French winger Nicolas Batum, released from his last year of contract by the Charlotte Hornets, has signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, the California NBA franchise announced on Tuesday. The 31-year-old Frenchman will thus know his third team in the NBA, after wearing the jerseys of the Portland Trail Blazers (2008-2015) and the Hornets (2015-2020).
A unique chance to win a ring
The duration and amount of his contract have not been specified by the NBA. Batum only played 22 games for the Hornets in the 2019-20 season, averaging 3.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, far from his best seasons with Portland ( 14.3 points in 2012-13) or with Charlotte (15.1 points in 2016-17).

The Hornets have decided to release him from his contract and pay him the $ 27 million guaranteed salary for his final season that will be paid by the franchise, which the legendary Michael Jordan owns, over the next three years. The native of Lisieux in Normandy arrived in the NBA in 2008, drafted by the Houston Rockets in 25th position, then transferred in stride to Portland. He played 789 games in twelve seasons during his NBA career averaging 11.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
