These nursing students are mobilized in the intensive care units of hospitals in Marseille and the surrounding area. They should be in internship but their training has been suspended since early November and until January 3, 2021. Tuesday morning, they demonstrated in front of the ARS, the Regional Health Agency, in Marseille.
Their training has been put on hold while their exam dates remain fixed. In “Coronavirus reinforcement”, they already have a State Nursing Diploma, and are currently working in the intensive care unit. An interesting experience but which does not train them in the specialty they have chosen. They lose eight weeks of internship.“We are cut off from our internships” describes Hadrien Souquet, delegate for the Nursing Anesthetists promotion “We are reinforcing Coronavirus in intensive care. There, it is the decrease of the wave. We would like to return to our studies, to train us at the theoretical and practical level.”
“We understood that all this happens because there is a lack of staff in hospitals, we have to face the lack of staff that has been described for more than 30 years and which is still not taken into account. is a shame, “ laments Pascale Jourdan, nurse anesthetist and general secretary of the CGT AP-HM.A delegation of nurses was received by the ARS. The students want the Regional Health Agency to negotiate with Renaud Muselier, President of the Paca Regional Council. So that aid intended for students is perpetuated. They have been listened to and will receive a response next week.
